I photographed all of it, then drove to the hospital at six in the morning and asked my charge nurse for a letter. Then my supervisor. Then the medical director, who has known me twenty two years. Three signed statements before noon, from people who watch me make life and death decisions on twelve hour rotations.

My attorney filed the mail interference the same week. They were out by the first of the month. No shouting. A sheriff’s civil notice and fourteen days.

Wesley writes at Christmas. I read every letter. I have answered two.
