The Courtroom Day The HOA President Discovered What My Cameras Had Quietly Recorded

The case took nearly a year to reach a courtroom, and in that time Deanna Crestwood did not stop. She sent letters to my address on HOA letterhead demanding I remove “unauthorized signage.” She held a community meeting, which I later obtained the minutes of, where she assured residents the cabin was “fully approved” and that I was a difficult neighbor obstructing a beloved retreat. She was still playing the same game she had always won, the one where the loudest, most confident voice in the room becomes the truth. What she did not understand was that I had spent that entire year doing nothing but building a record.

I had the county’s construction permit database, which contained no permit for the structure at all. And I had the camera footage, timestamped and backed up in triplicate, of two men removing my boundary marker and bending the post. Deanna’s attorney rose first, still projecting that same practiced confidence. Then the judge asked her a single question that made the entire room go quiet, and Deanna realized, for the first time, that her title meant nothing here.
