Natalie was driving home peacefully along a quiet country highway when a patrol car suddenly activated its flashing lights behind her. She immediately pulled over, turned off the engine, and handed over her license and registration when the officers approached. But despite finding no traffic violation, the officers refused to explain why she had been stopped. When Natalie calmly questioned them, their attitude became increasingly hostile. They ordered her out of the car, grabbed her when she tried to record the encounter, and placed her in handcuffs despite her continued calm behavior. Natalie warned them they were making a serious mistake, but neither officer listened.

With her hands secured behind her back, Natalie suddenly looked at the officers and asked one of them to reach into the right pocket of her shorts because she could not do it herself. The officers exchanged suspicious looks. When the first officer finally reached inside and pulled out the object, however, his expression immediately changed. His partner stared at what was in his hand, and for the first time since stopping Natalie, neither man had anything to say.
