Mike could barely breathe as he turned the handmade boarding pass over in his trembling hands. Across the back, written in elegant blue ink, were the words, “For the boy who taught others how to fly before he ever left the ground.” Tears blurred his vision as every passenger watched in silence. Captain Harris gently placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder and smiled.
“You’ve already changed more lives than you know,” the captain said softly. Then he reached into his flight bag and pulled out a thick envelope filled with colorful boarding passes collected from hospitals across the country. Mike stared in disbelief as the captain quietly added, “There’s something every one of these children wanted you to see.”
